How It Works

A lateral flow immunoassay that uses test lines pre-coated with HIV-1 and HIV-2 antigens. When a blood/serum/plasma sample is applied, it migrates by capillary action. If antibodies to HIV-1 or HIV-2 are present, they bind to colloidal gold-labeled antigens and form visible lines at specific test regions (1 or 2). A control line confirms the test validity.
